Ingredients

  • 1 pint boiling water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 5 to 6 cups plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 package yeast
  • 2 beaten eggs

Instructions

  1. Mix boiling water, sugar, shortening, salt, and plain flour until well combined.
  2. When mixture becomes lukewarm, add yeast and then beaten eggs.
  3. Mix well until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Place dough in loaf pans and let rise until it doubles in size.
  5. Bake at 375°F until golden brown and tapping the top produces a hollow sound.
