A savory pastry featuring melted Gouda wrapped in flaky crescent dough, perfect for entertaining or as a cheesy appetizer with a hint of mustard flavor.

Ingredients

  • 7 oz. round Gouda cheese
  • 8 oz. can Pillsbury crescent dinner rolls
  • 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the Gouda cheese in half to form two circles.
  2. Divide the can of crescent dough in half.
  3. Set one half of the dough aside.
  4. Lay the two rectangles of dough next to each other on a baking sheet.
  5. Pinch the perforations to seal the dough together.
  6. Place one half of the cheese in the center of the dough.
  7. Spread 1 1/2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard over the cheese (optional).
  8. Fold in the corners of the dough and pinch the edges shut to seal the cheese inside.
  9. Brush the wrapped pastry with beaten egg.
  10. Repeat the process with the other half of the dough and cheese.
  11. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
