Ingredients

  • 2 sq. bitter chocolate, melted in 1 c. boiling water and cooled
  • 1/2 c. margarine or butter
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. cake flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Cream butter or margarine and sugar. Add eggs and beat well.
  3. Alternate flour with sour cream, beginning with flour and ending with flour (3 flour and 2 sour cream additions).
  4. Add cooled chocolate mixture last.
  5. Add vanilla.
  6. Bake in 9 x 13-inch greased and floured cake pan.
  7. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.
  8. Test with a toothpick until crumbs remain on pick.
  9. Can also use 2 (8-inch) round pans.
  10. Frost with desired icing.
