Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  2. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add enough milk to hold the dough together.
  4. Knead gently, but not too long.
  5. Roll or pat out about 1/2-inch thick.
  6. Lightly flour the top of the dough; fold half of the dough over the other half; press together a little.
  7. Cut into biscuits.
  8. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.
  9. Bake at 450°F (232°C) for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
