- Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
- Put self-rising flour in a large bowl.
- Make a hole in the center of the flour.
- Pour buttermilk, dissolved yeast, sugar, and a little melted butter into the hole.
- Stir with a spoon to form dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface.
- Roll out to 1/4-inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter.
- Fold over each cut dough piece with melted butter and let rise for 45 minutes.
- Bake at 450°F until brown, brushing each roll with a little melted butter before baking.
- Dough prepared the night before can be refrigerated for 4 to 5 days.
