Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rum or 2 teaspoons rum flavoring
  • Yolks of 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter in a saucepan over low heat.
  2. Gradually add the sugar, stirring constantly until well combined.
  3. Slowly add the rum or rum flavoring while stirring.
  4. Beat the egg yolks well in a separate bowl.
  5. Add the beaten egg yolks to the butter and sugar mixture.
  6. Cook over hot water (double boiler) until the mixture thickens like custard, stirring constantly.
  7. Remove from heat and pour onto beaten egg whites or serve immediately.
