Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. Rumford baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp. Crisco or lard
  • 1/2 c. milk

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together.
  2. Rub in shortening lightly with fingers until blended with flour.
  3. Mix a very soft dough with cold liquids, using a pastry blender or knife.
  4. Turn the dough onto a well-floured board and roll or pat to about 3/4-inch thickness.
  5. Cut into biscuits and lay them not touching on a baking pan.
  6. Bake in a preheated 400°F (about 200°C) oven for 12 to 14 minutes.
