Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 large tart apples (Jonathan or McIntosh)
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • sugar/cinnamon mixture (enough to make 1/2 cup)
  • 1 box white cake mix

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Using one end of the stick of butter or margarine, grease the sides and bottom of a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  3. Peel, core, and slice the apples, then distribute them evenly in the prepared pan.
  4. Sprinkle the sugar/cinnamon mixture over the apples.
  5. Using your hand, sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the entire pan, covering the apples, using 1/2 to 3/4 of the cake mix.
  6. Dot the top of the cake mix with the remaining butter or margarine.
  7. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes until the top is browned.
