Sherried Banana Cake

- Prepare and bake the cake in two 9-inch round cake pans according to package directions.
- Remove the cakes from the pans and cool as directed.
- Place unpeeled bananas on a baking sheet and bake in a 350°F oven for 25 to 30 minutes until very soft.
- Remove bananas from peel and transfer to a blender.
- Add butter, sherry, and sugar to the blender and blend until smooth.
- Cool the banana mixture slightly.
- Slice each cake horizontally into two layers.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread with one-third of the banana filling.
- Repeat with the remaining layers and banana filling.
- Top with the remaining cake layer.
- Frost the top and sides of the cake with whipped cream frosting.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
