- Mix flour and shortening until well combined.
- Crumble in the cake of yeast into the mixture.
- Add egg yolks, beaten with some of the evaporated milk, and mix thoroughly.
- Add the remaining evaporated milk to the flour mixture and combine.
- Knead the dough well and refrigerate overnight.
- Take a portion of dough, roll into a ball as for a pie crust, using sugar instead of flour to roll out.
- Cut the rolled dough into triangles.
- Spread each triangle with nut or apricot filling.
- Roll up the triangles like crescent rolls.
- Roll the filled rolls in sugar and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned.
- Makes approximately 8 dozen rolls.
