Smothered Steak Roll-Ups

Tender rolled steak stuffed with seasoned dressing, browned to perfection, then simmered in creamy mushroom soup for a hearty, comforting meal suitable for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. thinly sliced round steak
  • 1 1/2 cups prepared herb seasoned stuffing
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 can (10 1/2 oz.) cream of mushroom soup

Instructions

  1. Cut the steak into 6 pieces, approximately 8 x 4 inches each.
  2. Pound each piece with a meat hammer or the edge of a heavy saucer to tenderize.
  3. Place 1/4 cup of prepared herb seasoned stuffing near the center of each piece of meat.
  4. Roll up the meat around the stuffing, tuck in the ends, and secure with skewers or toothpicks.
  5. In a skillet, brown the roll-ups in shortening; then pour off excess fat.
  6. Add the cream of mushroom soup and water to the skillet.
  7. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until tender, stirring occasionally.
