Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening or butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs in a bowl until well combined.
  3. Sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix well.
  5. Shape the dough into balls and roll each in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Place the coated dough balls on a greased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly golden.
