Snow Flurries

Ingredients

  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 lemon peel
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 c. jam

Instructions

  1. Cream together sugar, lemon peel, butter and shortening.
  2. Beat in eggs, vanilla and almond extract.
  3. Combine flour, salt and baking powder.
  4. Stir into sugar mixture.
  5. Chill dough 1 hour. Roll dough and cut into snow flurries with 3 inch star cookie cutter.
  6. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 10 minutes.
  7. Sandwich 2 stars together with 1/8 teaspoon jam with points off angle.
  8. Sift powdered sugar over cookies.
