Instructions
- Brown ground beef or ground turkey in a 5-quart Dutch oven or heavy pot.
- Skim off all fat.
- Slice and add carrots, celery and onion.
- Add tomatoes, barley, bouillon cubes, freshly ground pepper, parsley and 6 cups of water.
- Simmer 1 hour or until barley is fully cooked.
- Serve with hot bread or rolls, a glass of milk and fresh fruit.
