Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/4 c. mild vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, water, and mild vinegar in a saucepan and stir until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Cook without stirring until the mixture reaches very firm ball stage.
  3. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla as flavoring.
  4. Pour the hot mixture into a well greased shallow pan and let it cool enough to handle.
  5. Pull the cooled taffy until it becomes white and firm.
  6. Roll into ropes and cut into pieces with scissors or a knife.
