Ingredients

  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour orange juice
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • baked pie shell

Instructions

  1. Mix condensed milk and egg yolks, then slowly add sour orange juice.
  2. Beat the mixture vigorously until well combined.
  3. Beat one egg white until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the beaten egg white into the orange mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the remaining egg whites until stiff, gradually adding sugar and cream of tartar.
  6. Fold the sugar and egg white mixture into the orange mixture.
  7. Pour the filling into a baked pie shell.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until the egg whites are golden brown, about 10 minutes.
