Southern Style Corn

Ingredients

  • 4 ears fresh corn
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 c. milk

Instructions

  1. Remove silk from ears of corn.
  2. With sharp, paring knife, cut kernels from corn.
  3. Scrape cobs well to remove juice.
  4. Melt butter in a large frypan.
  5. Stir in corn and juices.
  6. Add water, sugar, salt and pepper.
  7. Cover and simmer until tender, about 15 minutes. To thicken, blend flour into milk, and add to corn.
  8. Bring to a boil.
  9. Continue cooking 5 more minutes, stirring occasionally.
