Southwestern Bread Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf baked round bread
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1/4 c. salsa or picante sauce
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Slice the top of the round bread and reserve this for the "lid".
  2. Carefully scoop out the inside of the bread to leave just the sides and bottom like a bowl.
  3. Keep the bread you scoop out for bread cubes later.
  4. Mix all the other ingredients well and then place inside the bread bowl.
  5. Put the top piece of bread on and then cover the entire loaf with foil.
  6. Bake at 400° for 1 1/2 hours.
  7. Remove from oven and serve while hot.
  8. Cut up the bread from inside the loaf into cubes or sticks and place on a cookie sheet to toast.
  9. You can toast these during the last 10 minutes of baking time or after removing the dip from the oven.
  10. Place these on a tray around your dip and serve immediately.
