Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened powdered cocoa
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 quart milk

Instructions

  1. Blend the unsweetened powdered cocoa and sugar together in a bowl.
  2. Dissolve the cornstarch in water in a saucepan.
  3. Add the cocoa and sugar mixture to the saucepan.
  4. Stir continuously to form a paste-like consistency over medium heat.
  5. Gradually add milk, a little at a time, stirring with a whisk to combine.
  6. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring often.
  7. Serve hot.
