Special Spaghetti Sauce

A rich, sweet and savory spaghetti sauce with Italian herbs and a hint of heat, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings. Customizable and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1/2 to 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 to 4 shakes Italian seasoning
  • 3 shakes oregano
  • 3 shakes basil
  • 1 shake hot red pepper flakes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 to 3 shakes garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Pour spaghetti sauce into a saucepan.
  2. Rinse the jar out with about 1/2 cup of water and add it to the saucepan.
  3. Shake in all of the spices: Italian seasoning, oregano, basil, hot red pepper flakes, and garlic powder.
  4. Add the brown sugar to the sauce.
  5. Mix all ingredients together thoroughly.
  6. Simmer on very, very low heat for at least 20 minutes.
