Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups finely chopped tart apples

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, using a wooden spoon or an electric mixer set on medium speed, beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Stir in the chopped apples.
  6. Stir the flour mixture into the apple mixture until the dry ingredients are just moistened.
  7. Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 1 hour.
  9. Transfer the pan to a wire rack and cool for 10 minutes.
  10. Turn the loaf out onto the rack to cool completely.
