Ingredients

  • 1 large can pineapple chunks or 3 cups fresh or frozen pineapple
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 8 to 12 whole cloves
  • 4-inch stick cinnamon or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Drain pineapple, reserving 3/4 cup syrup or pineapple juice.
  2. Mix the reserved syrup or juice with sugar, salt, cloves, and cinnamon.
  3. Heat the mixture to boiling and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Pour the hot spiced syrup over the pineapple chunks.
  5. Cover and chill the mixture.
  6. Serve well drained.
