Spicy Western Beans
Ingredients
- 13 cup lentils ⓘ
- 113 cups water ⓘ
- 4 slices bacon cooked ⓘ
- 1 each onions chopped ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons ketchup ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder ⓘ
- 3/4 teaspoon chili powder ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin ground ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes ⓘ
- 1 each bay leaves ⓘ
- 14 ounces tomatoes chopped ⓘ
- 16 ounces pinto beans ⓘ
- 16 ounces red kidney beans ⓘ
Instructions
- Boil 13 cup lentils in 113 cup water for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Drain.
- Fry bacon strips.
- In bacon grease, cook onions until transparent.
- Combine lentils, ba con, onion, ketchup, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin, pepper flakes, bay lea f, tomatoes, and beans in Crock-Pot.
- Cook on High 3 to 4 hours.
- Remove bay leaf.
