Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, add milk and oil; mix well.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients with the milk and oil mixture, then add the egg and mix until smooth.
  4. Heat 3 cups of oil in a deep pan or fryer.
  5. Spoon dough out in tablespoonfuls and drop into hot oil; fry for 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove donuts from oil and let cool briefly.
  7. Dip in powdered sugar or cinnamon-sugar before serving.
