Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 oz. yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large beaten eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a large warm bowl, mix warm water, yeast, salt, beaten eggs, vegetable oil, honey, and lemon juice together.
  2. Beat in 2 cups of unbleached white flour and gradually add another cup of white flour.
  3. Knead gently on a floured surface for 3 to 5 minutes until the dough is soft.
  4. Shape the dough into an oval loaf.
  5. Place the shaped dough into an oiled or greased loaf pan.
  6. Brush the top with well beaten egg or water.
  7. Allow the dough to rise until light and at least doubled in size.
  8. Bake in a preheated 400°F oven for 30 minutes.
  9. Cool before slicing and serving.
