Sweet Glazed Turnips

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. turnips, peeled and thickly sliced
  • salt
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/4 Tbsp. light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. chicken stock
  • freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Boil
  2. turnips
  3. in salted water 20 to 25 minutes or until almost tender.
  4. Drain and refresh vegetables under cold running water.
  5. Heat
  6. butter
  7. in
  8. rinsed
  9. out pan.
  10. Stir in sugar until dissolved.
  11. Pour
  12. in
  13. the
  14. stock;
  15. bring to boil.
  16. Add turnips; reduce heat and simmer gently for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the stock
  17. is
  18. reduced
  19. and
  20. the turnips glazed.
  21. Transfer to a hot serving
  22. dish and sprinkle with black pepper and parsley before serving.
  23. Serves 4.
