Ingredients

  • 6 cups warm water
  • 2 cups powdered milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dry yeast
  • flour
  • 1 1/2 cups melted oleo (butter)
  • 2 tablespoons salt

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, powdered milk, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Sprinkle dry yeast over the mixture and let sit until bubbly, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add flour gradually to form a batter dough and beat well.
  4. Incorporate melted oleo (butter) and salt into the dough and beat vigorously.
  5. Add more flour to make a soft roll dough, kneading gently.
  6. Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  7. Pinch off small balls about the size of an egg.
  8. Place balls on a greased baking pan, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  9. Put a smaller ball on top of each bottom ball and press down with your thumb.
  10. Let the assembled buns rise until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
  11. Bake at 400° to 425°F for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
