Ingredients

  • 1 serrano chili, seeded and chopped
  • 3 cups tomato vegetable juice
  • 3/4 cup tequila
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a blender or food processor, puree the serrano chili with the tomato vegetable juice.
  2. Add the tequila, lime juice, and salt to taste, then blend the mixture well.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a pitcher and chill it for 30 minutes.
  4. Pour the chilled mixture into tall glasses filled with ice cubes.
  5. Garnish each glass with lime wedges and serve.

Tips & Substitutions

For a milder version, reduce the amount of serrano chili or substitute it with a jalapeño. If you prefer a thicker texture, add a bit of tomato paste to the mixture. You can also use Home Canned Rotel Tomatoes for added flavor. For optimal freshness, use freshly squeezed lime juice and chill the drink longer if possible.

Serving Suggestions

This refreshing cocktail pairs beautifully with spicy dishes, such as Salsa Pronto or Super Guacamole. Serve it alongside tortilla chips or a light salad for a complete experience. For an elegant touch, consider adding a sprinkle of chili powder on the rim of the glasses before serving.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, gently warm the mixture on the stove over low heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through. Avoid boiling to maintain the fresh flavors.
