Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. warm water

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and shortening until well combined.
  2. Add warm water gradually and knead until the dough is soft and elastic.
  3. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 to 10 balls.
  5. Roll each ball out with a floured rolling pin into thin circles.
  6. Cook each tortilla on an ungreased cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until lightly browned on both sides.
