Crispy, golden tostones are twice-fried plantain slices seasoned lightly with adobo, offering a savory snack or side perfect for sharing and pairing with various dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 large green plantain
  • Goya corn oil

Instructions

  1. Peel the plantain and cut into diagonal 3/4-inch thick slices.
  2. Deep fry the slices in hot oil at 375°F until tender but crusty, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Drain the fried plantains on paper towels.
  4. Cover each plantain slice with wax paper and press down with the palm of your hand to flatten.
  5. Deep fry the flattened plantains again until crusty and golden on both sides.
  6. Drain on paper towels again.
  7. Season lightly with adobo and serve hot.
