Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon margarine or butter
  • 1 packet quick-acting dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix 1 1/2 cups flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Heat water, milk, and margarine to about 130°F.
  3. Stir the heated liquid mixture into the flour mixture, then add the egg and enough remaining flour to make the dough easy to handle.
  4. Sprinkle flour on wax paper and knead the dough until elastic and smooth.
  5. Cover the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.
