Ingredients

  • 1 gallon cucumbers
  • 1 cup salt
  • boiling water
  • 1 box alum
  • 1 box pickling spice
  • 1/2 gallon vinegar
  • about 4 pounds sugar

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 cup salt and boiling water over cucumbers to cover them.
  2. Add alum and pickling spice to the mixture.
  3. Pour about 1/2 gallon of vinegar into the jar or container.
  4. Add approximately 4 pounds of sugar to the mixture.
  5. Allow the mixture to ferment or sit for twelve days before using.
