Tyuane Torte is a hearty, cheesy layered casserole with spicy beef, tomatoes, chilies, and creamy sour cream, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 lb. can Mexican stewed tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 (4 oz.) cans diced chilies
  • 2 pkg. taco mix seasoning
  • 1 3/4 lb. grated Cheddar cheese
  • 16 oz. sour cream

Instructions

  1. Brown, drain, and rinse the ground beef.
  2. Add tomatoes, chopped onion, diced chilies, and taco seasoning mix; simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Grease a pan and layer half a package of flour tortillas.
  4. Spread the meat mixture over the tortillas and sprinkle with 1¾ pounds of grated Cheddar cheese.
  5. Top with sour cream, the remaining tortillas, and ¼ pound of grated cheese.
