  1. Cut the onion and green pepper into small or medium-sized cubes, depending on your taste.
  2. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and green peppers to the pot and sauté until softened.
  4. Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste to the pot and stir well.
  5. Stir in the kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  6. Mix everything thoroughly and bring to a simmer.
  7. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the beans are tender.
  8. Serve hot, optionally with rice, spaghetti, or topped with shredded cheese.
