Ingredients

  • 11 egg whites
  • 9 egg yolks
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • dash of salt
  • 2 teaspoon cream of tartar

Instructions

  1. Beat egg yolks until lemon colored.
  2. Add sugar and beat well.
  3. Add flour, salt, and vanilla to the egg yolk mixture.
  4. Beat egg whites until frothy.
  5. Add cream of tartar and beat until very stiff.
  6. Gently fold the egg yolk mixture into the beaten egg whites.
  7. Pour the batter into a large ungreased angel food pan.
  8. Bake for 1 hour at 300°F (150°C).
