Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups scalded milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add sugar and salt, and continue beating until well blended.
  3. Slowly add the hot, scalded milk while stirring.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the custard mixture into a rinsed baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle with nutmeg on top.
  7. Place the baking dish in a pan of hot water.
  8. Bake at 350°F until the custard is set or a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
