Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 1 lb. fresh lump crab meat
  • 4 oz. Wesson oil
  • 3 oz. cider vinegar
  • 4 oz. ice water
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. Spread half of the chopped onion over the bottom of a large bowl.
  2. Layer separated crab lumps over the onion layer.
  3. Add the remaining chopped onion on top.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Pour Wesson oil, cider vinegar, and ice water over all ingredients.
  6. Sprinkle sugar on top.
  7. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours.
  8. Toss lightly before serving.
