Ingredients

  • 4 c. boiling water
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 Tbsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. warm water

Instructions

  1. Boil water, salt, and sugar for 5 minutes.
  2. Add shortening until melted, then add milk and cool.
  3. Prepare yeast in warm water and set aside.
  4. Add 4 to 5 cups of flour to cooled liquid, then add yeast mixture.
  5. Gradually add more flour and beat in eggs one at a time.
  6. Stir between adding each egg, then add remaining flour until dough isn't sticky.
  7. Let the dough stand and rise.
  8. Knead the dough, then place in pans after it has risen.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
