White Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1 lb. sifted powdered sugar
  • 11 egg whites, beaten stiff
  • 1/2 c. sweet milk
  • 3/4 lb. sifted flour, warmed
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. lemon

Instructions

  1. Weigh flour and sift it once, then warm it a little and sift 4 or 5
  2. times with baking powder.
  3. Cream butter; add some of flour and
  4. other ingredients alternately.
  5. Bake in loaf or layers.
  6. If baked in
  7. loaf,
  8. bake about 2 hours at 300°.
  9. This is an old recipe but very good.
  10. I use an angel food pan.
