Ingredients

  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Add yeast to lukewarm water; set aside to soften.
  2. Heat milk in a large pan until bubbles form at the edges.
  3. Add salt, milk, and oil, then cool mixture to lukewarm.
  4. Add 2 cups of flour; stir to make a smooth batter.
  5. Add egg and yeast; blend well.
  6. Add remaining flour to form dough.
  7. Knead dough on a floured board until smooth.
  8. Let it rise in a greased, covered pan until double in bulk.
  9. Fold dough down.
  10. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
  11. Shape into rolls or loaves in greased pans.
  12. Let rise until double in bulk.
  13. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes for rolls or 25 to 30 minutes for loaves.
