Wiesbaden Bread(Cookies)

Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. flour (all-purpose)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp. milk

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat together 1 cup sugar and butter until fluffy.
  2. Separate one of the eggs, setting aside yolk to use in cookie glaze.
  3. Add egg white and other egg to butter mixture, mixing until crumbled.
  4. Stir together flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon and baking powder.
  5. Add to butter mixture, beating well. Cover and chill dough for 3 hours or overnight.
  6. Roll out half the dough at a time on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness.
  7. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
  8. Place cookies 1 1/2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  9. Stir together reserved egg yolk and milk.
  10. Brush on cookies.
