Ingredients

  • 1 box pearlized tapioca (sago)
  • 1 bottle grape juice or grape wine (2 cups)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 lemon (including rind), cut up
  • 1/2 package seedless raisins
  • 12 prunes
  • 2-inch cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Soak the tapioca and prunes separately overnight.
  2. Cook the prunes in one quart of water until tender.
  3. Add the soaked tapioca, grape juice or wine, salt, cinnamon stick, sugar, and lemon including rind to the pot.
  4. Cook slowly until the tapioca is dissolved and the mixture thickens.
  5. Add the lemon at the end of the cooking time.
