Winter Mush

A warm, comforting winter dish featuring creamy cornmeal mush, perfect for cold days. Easily customizable with sugar or fried slices for added texture and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 qt. water
  • cornmeal
  • salt
  • sweet milk
  • sugar

Instructions

  1. Bring 2 quarts of water to a boil in a pot.
  2. When the water begins to boil, sprinkle cornmeal into the water gradually, stirring with a spoon to prevent lumps.
  3. Add a dash of salt to the boiling water.
  4. Continue stirring until the mixture begins to thicken.
  5. Test the consistency to see if the mush is thick enough.
  6. Serve by placing some of the mush in a small bowl of sweet milk.
  7. Add sugar if desired.
  8. Enjoy as a nourishing dish on a cold day.
  9. The mush can also be sliced and fried if preferred.
