Ingredients

  • pastry top and bottom for 9-inch pie
  • 6 cups sliced apples
  • 3/4 to 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • a dash of nutmeg
  • a dash of salt
  • 2 tablespoons margarine

Instructions

  1. Use Pillsbury pie crusts from the regular section of the grocery store and fit them into a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Combine all ingredients: 6 cups sliced apples, 3/4 to 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg, and a dash of salt. Mix well.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie shell.
  4. Cover with the top crust, make slits in the top to vent steam.
  5. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Place something under the pie while baking to catch any drips.
