Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 3/4 c. scalded milk
  • pinch of salt
  • apples
  • 1 to 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. butter

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, shortening, and salt together.
  2. Add scalded milk to the mixture and stir until dough forms, similar to pie crust.
  3. Set the dough aside until apples are peeled.
  4. Take half of the dough and roll out into a 9 x 13-inch rectangle.
  5. Arrange sliced apples onto the rolled-out dough, then sprinkle with half of the sugar, cinnamon, and dot with butter.
  6. Roll the dough into a 4 x 13-inch shape and seal the edges.
  7. Place the rolled dough into half of a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  8. Repeat the process with the second portion of dough and apples.
  9. Sprinkle the top with remaining sugar and cinnamon.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour until golden and bubbly.
