- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add sugar to the melted butter and bring to a boil.
- Cook the mixture for exactly 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour the hot butter-sugar mixture over a single layer of saltines in a large greased shallow baking pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle semi-sweet chocolate morsels over the hot surface.
- Wait about 5 minutes until the morsels melt, then spread the melted chocolate evenly over the surface.
- Allow to cool completely, then break into pieces to serve.
