Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon flavoring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter, sugar, and egg yolks together.
  2. Sift baking powder with flour; add the flour mixture alternately with milk to the butter and sugar mixture.
  3. Add lemon and vanilla flavorings.
  4. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  5. Pour batter into three 9-inch layer pans.
  6. Bake at 350°F for about 25 minutes, or until done.
