Ingredients

  • 12 medium tart apples
  • 1 qt. sweet cider
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves

Instructions

  1. Quarter and core the apples.
  2. Cook apples in sweet cider until tender, then force through a sieve to separate pulp.
  3. Cook the apple pulp until thick, stirring often to prevent sticking.
  4. Cool for about 30 minutes, then add sugar, cinnamon, and cloves; cook on low heat for about 1 hour.
  5. Put the mixture into jars, leaving 1/2-inch from the top, seal, and process in a large kettle with a rack and boiling water for about 10 minutes.
