Ingredients

  • 1 lb. soup beans
  • 1 ham bone
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • dash of garlic salt
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Soak the soup beans in water overnight, then drain.
  2. Add fresh water and cook the beans slowly with the ham bone for 2 hours.
  3. Add chopped onion, celery seed, seasoning salt, garlic salt, salt, and pepper to the pot.
  4. Remove the ham bone from the pot, trim off any meat, and return the meat to the soup.
  5. Add ham bits and simmer the soup for an additional hour.
