Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 5 egg whites (unbeaten)
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Instructions

  1. Sift flour and cream of tartar together.
  2. Cream sugar and Crisco well and add eggs, flour and buttermilk alternately.
  3. Put soda in 1 1/2 teaspoons warm water when you start the cake.
  4. Let set until cake is mixed and add.
  5. Cook for 1 hour at 325°.
